As a female artist, I was driven to capture the serene landscapes of savage color that I witnessed out of my aspen-lined windows during Covid. As the sun set in Sante Fe each night, I would turn to my pastel palette and render an unrivaled record of shadows and light dancing before me - an experience endemic to my newfound peace and quiet. By sweeping the finest pastel on a rare archival substrate, I was able to discover a new form of work that called back to past traditions while pushing forward certain boundaries. There is no gift better than this special kinship between stillness within and courageous works created; it's what makes my pastels so unique from any other medium or artist.
